For my FMP (Final Major Project), I decided to choose the theme of Japanese Loungewear, inspired by the aesthetic and textures of birds and butterflies. I was really inspired by the casual and sumptuous lingerie styles that embodied elegance, comfort and female empowerment.
FMP Project Pitch
Sketchbook
The sketchbook is where I was able to explore the theme more deeply and combine all the inspiration together. I was able to experiment with the fabrics that I had come across in my fabric research, such as Bilight. I was also able to access an embroidery machine for this project to help incorporate imagery of the cherry blossom trees and a laser cutter to experiment on creating feather like textures.
Through this project I was able to experience so many creative techniques and found so many points of inspiration that my "Hero Piece" for this project resulted in a 72 piece bodysuit (pictured below) that incorporated digital fabric printing and embroidery.
